Chelsea a longtemps lutté pour signer Manuel Ugarte. Elle était même prête à payer la clause libératoire avec son offre, mais a finalement décidé de se retirer. Le Paris Saint-Germain a profité du retrait du club londonien pour s’attacher les services de l’Uruguayen. Le PSG paiera 60 millions d’euros au Sporting.

L’officialisation devrait être annoncée dans les prochaines heures. Manuel Ugarte est déjà à Paris pour passer la visite médicale. Ugarte a fait 47 apparitions dans toutes les compétitions cette saison. Il a enregistré une passe décisive en Ligue Europa.
